| Topic | This is the fourth sheet of Kunichika's five-sheet series Arigataki Megumi no Hanagata. Ichikawa Udanji I, tattooed from his arms to his thighs and wearing a red loincloth, stands in the pool beneath the waterfall, while Onoe Taganojo II, dressed as a woman in a blue checked kimono, crouches at the water's edge. The complete series consists of five sheets that join side by side to form a single wide composition, although each sheet can also be appreciated as an individual work. |
